Foundational Knowledge Episode 1: What is Cryptocurrency? Money has always evolved to suit…
The aim of this series is simple: to demystify digital assets and provide readers with the knowledge they need to understand one of the most important financial innovations of our time.
Cryptocurrency is often surrounded by confusion, jargon, and hype. Yet at its core, it is about money, technology, and opportunity. From the basics of what cryptocurrency is, to how blockchain works to practical issues such as buying, storing, and avoiding scams, this series will take readers step by step through the subject in a way that is clear, practical, and relevant to Zimbabwe.
The series will also explore the bigger picture. We will look at how cryptocurrencies are being used for remittances, financial inclusion, and trade, as well as new ideas like tokenisation, smart contracts, and central bank digital currencies. By presenting both the opportunities and the risks, we aim to give readers a balanced view that helps them make informed decisions.
Through this initiative, we hope to equip Zimbabweans with the tools to better understand a technology that is already reshaping global finance and to prepare for the opportunities it can bring.
